Once you’ve decided to live stream – or is it livestream – your podcast, the next big decision will be to decide this question: Is it live stream or livestream?
It’s easy to end up using them interchangeably, too. For example, the Safari spell check corrects livestream to live stream. And Grammarly did it the other way – telling me live stream should become livestream.
What’s even the difference?
Those two words are often used interchangeably. Live stream seems to make a bigger deal about that the stream is live. Live basically modifies the word stream. It seems the more traditional way to phrase this.
Then, the word livestream is very common online – including with streamers and others that broadcast live, sometimes for hours at end. Livestream is the modern evolution of the phrase.
Does it even matter?
Yes and no. It is important for company content strategies to follow some kind of style or even have a corporate style guide. When content goes back and forth there’s always a chance that some eagle-eyed readers notice and get annoyed by it. (Some people have strong feelings about word usage that they feel is wrong!)
So, the easiest solution is to decide which way to spell it and stick with it.
