Back in the days – I’m not going to call them the good old days – wired or wireless mouse wasn’t even an option. Everything was stuck together with cables. And to an extent, it still is today, but when it comes to the mouse for your workstation, it is worth considering whether to use a wired/corded one or a Bluetooth/wireless one.
And I have used both. In fact, I’ve had success with both. But for me, there is a clear winner at the current time. So let’s dive into that topic.
Is wireless mouse better than wired?
There are basically two kinds of wireless computer mice to choose from. One is connected through the USB port, so you put the little USB receiver into the computer or an intermediate device, like a MacBook, and then that communicates wirelessly with the mouse.
These have worked for me before, but I now use a MacBook Pro, so there are just never enough USB inputs, and that means I have to use a hub, and even that runs out of USB inputs. Of course, that also would be a problem with a completely wired mouse.
I’ve used some versions of these that work just fine and others are kind of slow. And at the end of the day, I need my mouse to move fast.
Also, be aware of the size. I have larger hands, so I prefer a larger mouse. Here’s another version that you could consider if that’s the case for you that has the wireless USB connection set up.
Then we have Bluetooth mouse setups. I’ve had some success with these, and I like them better than the USB version.
The biggest advantage of a wireless mouse clearly is one less cable on and around the desk.
Then we have slim ones that call are called high-performance.
Is wired mouse better than wireless?
I currently use a Censprin wired mouse and I like it. Yes, there’s an extra cable, but it’s tugged away in that area of my desk. But the speed and feel work great for me. Make sure to get the right size of mouse for the size of your hand.
A smaller version I like and have used is this Logitech corded mouse.
Here’s a wired economic mouse.
As always, which version is better depends on personal preferences, the ways you work, and even the size of hands. But for now, a wired mouse is the winner for me.
