Back in the day, when I was hauling camera cables along the sides of soccer fields for a live TV broadcast, I often wondered: Why isn’t there a wireless live streaming camera that can be used instead of all these cables? And even in the world of livestreaming from our studios or even while remote, there still were a lot of cables involved.

But no more. You can now consider getting a wireless live streaming device like the new Emeet StreamCam One and say goodbye to cables.

What wireless live steaming equipment is needed?

Certainly, the camera is one piece. Other accessories that you might consider include the following, depending on what you are livestreaming specifically.

An ergonomic handle.

The emeet one also can be attached to this as it has the same screw-in hole as that iPhone connector pictured here.

If you are more stationary, I would recommend a sturdy tripod like this one. This is the one I use in my studio as well.

Wireless live streaming setup

The biggest tips when it comes to your wireless live streaming setup is to understand the following:

  • the goal
  • your surroundings
  • know how to use the equipment – for example, the emeet one needs to be paired to your phone and its app on the phone.

Wireless live streaming often involves being away from your typical studio. Not always, but many times. So when we stream outside, there are more factors at play. For example, the wind, the lightning, and the weather, in general, can impact the quality of the stream.

So keep in mind that you may have to adjust while streaming outdoors. At least have an umbrella nearby if you have to keep going in the case of rain.

Those factors aren’t an issue in an indoor studio, but you still want to know how to use everything together to pull off the best possible livestream.

Wireless mic for live streaming

The emeet one has a wireless mic for live streaming, but you can also add another mic in the app.

There are plenty of options for Lavalier microphones available for your consideration. These work well and are worth considering when you aren’t super close to the camera and need to capture good audio of you speaking.

Wireless live streaming is worth considering in your content and video strategy. Whether that’s in your studio or while in motion, getting rid of some cables is a positive. And when the quality of the stream is good, too, that’s an improvement for us as creators and the audience.
