Going live on Twitter with video has been a thing for a number of years and you can also do audio-only broadcasts. That’s kind of cool and I’m surprised no other social media network offers it like this.

Go live on Twitter setup
To set up the audio live stream on Twitter, go to your Twitter page and click compose. Then on go live.
Once you clicked live you can turn on audio only. That’s the microphone button in the bottom left.
From there just click go live and you can talk to your Twitter community. They can respond through written comments but cannot participate through voice like they can on Twitter Spaces.
Saving Twitter audio broadcasts
You can’t currently save them directly but you can easily go back to your timeline and save the audio as a screen recording. That recording could then be used for a podcast episode.
Wrap: How to do a good live audio broadcast
Before going live, still have a good strategy in mind.
- Pick a topic
- Have a rough outline of what you’ll talk about
- Be ready to respond to comments. Don’t be disappointed when there are none
It’s really just like a podcast so if you’ve done a podcast, this isn’t new.
Have an introduction, middle and end.
Give people time to show up. So plan on chit chatting with yourself early on.
Plan on at least 10 minutes for the show. Longer seems to be better.
Be yourself. Be human. The best live shows are the ones where people just talk – about a topic, of course.
