What if you don’t want to see a specific company’s posts? Can you block a company on LinkedIn? It’s a great question and one that many people have wondered about. After all, we can block individual people on LinkedIn, so blocking a company page would be possible, too, right? Well, let’s dive in and find out!

The short answer is no. You can’t block a company page on LinkedIn like you can a person’s profile. LinkedIn doesn’t have a feature that allows you to block an entire company page. However, there are still a couple of things you can do to manage your interactions with a company on LinkedIn.

One option is to block individual people who work for that company. If there are specific employees or executives whose content you don’t want to see, or who you don’t want viewing your profile, you can block them one by one. It might take a little time to track down all the relevant people, but it’s a way to cut ties with a company without blocking the whole page.

Why blocking a company page wouldn’t work anyway

Keep in mind, though, that blocking individuals won’t necessarily stop everyone at that company from seeing your content. Companies can have many employees, and new hires might join later. Sometimes people don’t update their profile or they don’t tag the right company. It can be tricky to keep up with blocking every single person associated with a company.

Another thing to consider is that even if you block someone, they may still be able to see your public content if they’re not logged into LinkedIn. Blocking just prevents them from interacting with you directly, like sending you messages or seeing your full profile. So blocking might not be a foolproof solution if you’re trying to keep your content totally under wraps.

Reporting company page content

Okay, blocking a company page is off the table, and blocking individuals has limitations. What else can you do to manage your interactions with a company on LinkedIn? One option is to report inappropriate content posted by the company. If a company page posts something spammy, harassing, or otherwise against LinkedIn’s rules, you can report that content and let LinkedIn’s moderators deal with it. The report function can be found on the profile and on posts behind the three dots.

The same goes for comments posted on a company page. If someone leaves a rude or inappropriate comment on a company post, you can report that specific comment to LinkedIn. It doesn’t appear that you can block the person directly from the company page, but reporting the comment is a way to flag bad behavior and hopefully get it removed.

But what if the comments aren’t necessarily inappropriate, but you don’t want to see them? In that case, you might be able to delete the comments yourself. If you’re an admin of your company page, you can moderate comments and remove ones you don’t want on your page. It’s a handy way to keep your company’s LinkedIn presence looking spiffy and professional. Keep in mind that if you are a tax-funded organization, deleting people’s comments might be a violation of their First Amendment rights.

Simply unfollow the page

Another simple solution is to unfollow the company page. If you’re following a company page and you’re tired of seeing their content in your feed, simply don’t follow them. It’s not as final as blocking, but it’s a quick and easy way to clean up your LinkedIn feed and focus on the content you actually want to see.

Of course, unfollowing a company doesn’t stop them from interacting with your content or viewing your profile. But it’s a good first step if you’re just looking to minimize their presence in your day-to-day LinkedIn experience.

It’s not a perfect system, but reporting content, deleting comments, and unfollowing pages are tools to shape your LinkedIn experience and limit your exposure to content you don’t want to see.
